Chainlake is independently built and operated -- no team, no outside funding. It started from a simple frustration: asking a question about on-chain activity shouldn't require writing SQL by hand or trusting a black-box answer with no way to check the work.
Built by one person, on purpose
Chainlake is designed, built, and operated by a single developer. That's a constraint, not a marketing angle -- every feature that ships has been used and stress-tested firsthand before anyone else touches it.
Self-funded
No outside investors, no fundraising narrative to perform for. Development is paced by what the product actually needs next, not by a runway clock.
Built in the open, with real users
Private beta means direct contact with the people using it -- feedback goes straight into what gets built next, without a product team in between.
What this means for you
Being independently built means slower, more deliberate progress on some things -- there's no team to parallelize across. It also means fewer layers between a problem you run into and it actually getting fixed.
It's also why the site is upfront about what's shipped versus what's still on the roadmap (see the homepage for the current split) instead of describing planned work as if it already exists.
